Frequently Asked Library Questions
|
What do I have to do to get a library card?
To qualify for a library card, you must provide verification of your permanent mailing address and a driver's license or ID Card.
Items that are acceptable as verification of your mailing address are: driver's license, P.O. Box
receipt, voter registration, etc. Juvenile patrons (under age 16) must have a parent or legal
guardian present to issue a card. Children must be at least 5 years old to qualify for a card.

Do you have computers for public use?
We have computer terminals with free internet access. There is no fee for the use of these
computers. However, we ask that you limit use to one hour when others are waiting to use the
computer. Black and white copies are 25 cents and color copies are 50 cents.

Do you have Children Reading Programs?
Summer vacation is a fun time at the library with the Summer Reading Program for children of
all ages. See the Librarian for details.

How do I Checkout Items?
Your library card is free. However, there is a $2.00 fee if you live outside Hamilton. Your card
is required in order for you to check out any library materials. Adult and juvenile patrons may
borrow up to 7 items at one time per library card.

How long are the Checkout Periods?
Checkout period is for fourteen days and may be renewed at any time. Late fees are ten cents per
day for books, books on tape or CD and $1.00 per day for movies. You can avoid late fines by
calling the library and having your books renewed. A book drop is also provided for convenient
book return before or after hours of operation. Books can be placed on hold by calling (205) 921-4290.

Sales and Donations
The Library has an ongoing book sale throughout the year.
Hardback books - $2.00
Paperback Books - $1.00
Magazines - 10 Cents
Any donations of books, magazines, monetary contributions, or your time will be greatly appreciated.
